  1. Credit Checks and Credit Information

A credit check is a routine part of the application process for certain credit products. The following details the role credit checks play within our credit process.

Lender’s Credit Checks. A credit check is typically part of a lending institution’s assessment of an application for credit. A lending institution may obtain a credit report regarding the applicant from a credit reporting body, and the applicant will typically provide consent to this as part of the credit application.

Our Credit Checks and Credit Scores. If you consent, we will request a credit report or credit score regarding you and/or your business and/or your business’ directors and/or your business’ guarantors in order to assess your creditworthiness. Obtaining a credit report or credit score in this manner is intended to reduce the number of credit applications you will need to make, which may otherwise impact your credit score.

  • Details of your credit and loan applications and the credit you have been offered or have used

  • Court judgements against you
  • Your personal insolvency records
  • Your credit score and other information derived from your credit report

Some credit reports may contain the credit reporting body’s scoring of your report.

Credit Reporting Bodies

Each of these credit reporting bodies has its own website and details of how you can request access to the information they hold about you and how you can make a request to update or correct the information. You can also make a request to restrict the use of your credit information if, for example, you believe you have been a victim of fraud.

Under law, we are allowed to use credit information to help us assess your loan application. We may also share credit information with other credit providers and lenders. If your loan application is unsuccessful, you are entitled to receive a copy of your credit report and score.
